Yeah, I was going to say that. MV was way ahead of it's time... not that I really remember it from it's first run. From what I have seen I thought was pretty smart and well directed. Each episode played almost like a movie. You could put it on TV right now and it wouldn't show it's age all that much. I enjoyed how they mixed that awesome 80's soundtrack in there flawlessly too! Montage! I don't care for the CSI's but I am a fan of Law & Order. I don't mind SVU either. There is always a Law & Order episode on somewhere at all times of the day/night, so I don't get picky. They're all pretty much the same, with the exception of CI, which sucks. I haven't seen a Jeff Goldblum episode though. Psych, while not strictly a police drama, is pretty entertaining and it's in the psychological police show vein. I think Life on Mars could be considered a psychological police drama too, and it's brilliant. Have you ever found yourself trying to explain to someone why this show is so good and they just look at you, silently, like you're nuts? That's a sign of greatness. The Shield will be missed.

That said, I do like me some Law and Order Prime

The best of all time: Mathnet

The best show in this genre in the past 5 years was Life, but of course, it was cancelled. The Wire excepted of course.

Anyone see The Unusuals? It is fun and does not take itself too seriously.

I really hope you're talking about the BBC version...

I think Life on Mars (UK version was better) and the Sheild were the only two cop shows of recent note I liked to watch.

It's gotta be great if they're paying the writers by the line.
