Any vintage Knoll experts?

Okay, I know a bit about certain vintage pieces but most are Herman Miller. I've come across a vintage Knoll sofa but I don't know anything else about it. I'm wondering if anyone knows of a catalog or archive of vintage knoll designs.

This particular piece isn't your typical florence knoll sofa (though I kind of wish it was as it's one of my all time favorite designs) and the only piece I've found that's even remotely similar is one referred to as a "type 25" but I can't find any more information on it. fyi, it's similar to this but has been covered in a more appropriate boucle type upholstery.

anyone have any ideas?

How about a pic or two so that we can help you out? Any labels on it to help ID? I have a friend who has a couple old catalogs, So I might be able to help you out if I can compare the pics.

I am actually waiting on pics from the dealer as i didn't have a decent camera on hand when I was looking at it. (iphone camera SUX) The shape is nearly identical to the one I posted the link for though if that helps at all. Thanks.

She designed so much upholstered furniture over the years---it's a bit overwhelming. I checked one of the reference books I have and, if it is a 26 sofa, it would have been made 1947-1970. Older models have birch legs, newer have maple or walnut. There are other models that look similar.

Here's a shot of the sofa from the dealer's site.

it lacks the tufting that I love but the lines are great overall.

The legs on that look a bit odd.

Agreed. I don't like that they're not at the outer edges and that they're round.

the are actually square. the dealer cut that photo out of a showroom shot for some reason and they did a particularly poor job unfortunately. I actually just spoke to the guy that restored it yesterday and got some more info. no model # or anything but I'm pretty comfortable with the guy and his knowledge so we're most likely going to go ahead with it. I'm going to a knoll product launch this Thursday armed with better photos so hopefully one of their people might know something more about it.

It's really weird. I have to say, had I not seen the piece in person I wouldn't be interested at all. it really isn't too photogenic. In person though, it's beautiful.

Good luck with that; most of the Knoll people we've dealt with don't know much about their current products.

Thinking of getting these Knoll tulip chairs for $70 each. Am I missing something (besides the cushion which I could replace with Knoll for $280 each)? I've heard the sticker is on the US made chairs and European made chairs have a stamping. There was no other marking on the chairs besides the sticker..

im currently in the process of getting the same thing but complete with cushions and the table.
the whole set usually goes sround $700-$900 so $70 a chair without the cushions is a bit steep in my opnion

Really, didn't know the vintage set went for that. Single new chair is like $1200. Guess I'll pass on these then.

Knoll table that goes with those chairs alone, $1200 vintage, little more newer here in san diego. can get an ikea knock off for like $30. Plummers out here charges full price for their knock off junk and most people "finance" it
