Oh but the most devastating revelation this weekend were from my women friends. They advised me not to get anything too expensive b/c once I get hitched, the wife will have her own taste and will toss out all my stuff.

Ergo, Ikea or West Elm may not be a bad idea.

My gf absolutely hates my couch and is already talking about junking it. She doesn't like modern furniture, either. So you have my sympathies.

I got to choose my toothbrush.
Actually, just the color.

Reviving thread to get opinions on this. It's for our house in W. Mass., fairly rustic country type settiing. Comes from Shimna in NYC. Will probably go with a fabric color about like this:

Another view for the lines & base:

Shimna has some cool stuff in the rustic look category. The coffee table that opens for storage is a nice piece. Their stuff is also well priced. I like their raw wood shelves.

^ Thanks Greg. I happened to walk by the store on Lafayette last weekend, went in & liked what I saw. Some very cool fabric choices too.

I'm happy they didn't go out of business with the big construction area in front of the store for almost a year, I honestly thought that all the stores on that small block would go under. It was almost impossible to know they were even there.

Despite my steel laden living room, I'm a big fan of the raw wood look. I will have to check this store out, I might need to scope out options if the GF can't get around to making me a side table. Love that table in picture #1

Yep it is not easy to see. I was heading from the WV to the (now infamous) Pop Up Flea, pure random chance that I even noticed the place.

1) I like the LC3 more than the LC2 that Foo posted. See attached.
2) I like the down feather cushion option. The foam cushions are too straight and too neat.
3) The LC3 is a touch lower than the LC2. I wonder if having a seat that low gets old.
4) The default grain leather is terrible. The aniline dyed leather is better. But not among the best I've seen.
5) The best leather are from companies that make classic sofas, but they don't typically have more modern designs. The companies that make modern designs don't have such great leather.

Must second the choice of the LC3 over the LC2, where the LC2 isn't comfy at all and looks a bit too much like something from a corporate lobby, the LC3 is really comfy and looks much more like it belongs in a home. I especially like the off-white leather with a black frame instead of the black-chrome combo.

Any recommendations on highly customizable chesterfield sofas in US?

I remember looking at some site that offered not only leathers but also furs and animal hides as well as selection of wood frames and even nails. It was all arranged via pull-down menus on the site , very neatly. I cannot find that site anymore and I forgot its name.
