Funny this should come up. I listened to Songs From The Big Chair several times over on the inflight entertainment system last week during a five hour flight.

Songs and The Hurting before it are fine albums.

SHOUT what beautiful early memories these melodies give me.

One of the few bands I didn't see.

+1 on 'the hurting'... album title, mad world, change, pale shelter, ideas as opiates, suffer the children are all fucking great songs. the remastered edition from the 90s finally included 'way you are' which is a great song, even though both orzabal and smith hate the song.

Songs from the Big Chair is epic. The Hurting also, but slightly less so. Def one of my favorite bands from the eighties (which obviously was the best decade for music, no contest).

Something tells me that they wouldn't be that great live (although I still would've loved to see them). I could be wrong but I can't imagine them pulling off the sound that was captured on their albums. It's very produced IMO.
