Things you just don't get - Page 520
This is actually one of my all time pet peeves. I have been known to go so far as to take a little bit of the butter, wrap it in a napkin and warm it for a minute or so just between my two hands (not smashing it obviously). Single serving butter pats that are wrapped in foil are perfect for warming up in your hands. But yeah... thing is, if you've ever worked in restaurants, you know that the butter must be kept in the fridge, so they just take it out at the last minute for each serving... Annoying as hell tho.
Agreed. Why must every bar insist on trying to crowd as many chairs/stools at the bar? Who the hell wants to sit on an apparatus that keeps you further away from the bar making you lean in at odd angles? I suppose they are good to keep my briefcase off the ground but sitting.... maybe when I am there on a quiet sunday afternoon. During prime drinking hours --- no way.
Be sure to post the video.
You should make a vine video of him watching vine videos. That has the potential to go viral.
I mean, it is no different then youtube or twitter or even an image site like flickr. Most of the stuff on there is absolutely terrible. I challenge anyone to find a decent video on youtube just by watching whatever is the most recently uploaded.
Vine just lacks any way to sort through the crap (since it is just meant to be posted on twitter, and thus assumes that you have sorted out the crap yourself by not following people who post terrible videos). Best of Vine might try to, but they probably have a much stronger incentive to keep posting whatever they can find to get return visitors who look at ads than they do to actually wait until they find something funny.
TWO PEOPLE GET GOLD STARS!!!
I don't get English departments and specifically I mean what people do in them. I was talking to a colleague from English today and he told me he was working on the ecology of pedagogical space, and this had something to do with a critique of neo-liberalism. That seemed like a strange thing for a person in an English department to be working on, but probably I just don't know anything.
