a-plus effort on your part

I used to get phone calls late wednesday nights (back in the late 80s-early 90s) from callers for a popular tv current affairs show, specially if they have controversial guests on. apparently my number and the tv station's number is the same except for the last digit. if I'm in a jovial mood, I'd pretend I'm taking down their questions and then surprise them with the announcement that they're the evening's "lucky caller" and that they should go to the studio next week to claim their prize.

funny, I was just reading that you're more likely to be killed by a vending machine than a plane crash

Hope so, since I'm heading for the airport. Thanks for jinxing me, a-holes.

Can't help you there, it's not funny at all.

Most Zulu comedy is made by someone with intelligence of an ape and the emotional growth of a 14 year old also known as Casper Christensen and his company Douglas production.

That's great.

My brother had the old phone number of a guy who ran a youth soccer league. He got calls for years with that one. He was too nice to mess with them, but presumably he could have had some fun with that. But for the first couple years of having that number, his voicemail message was, "I am not Brian [lwhateverhisnamewas]. This is [Engelbert Humperdinck], please leave me a message."

Why are American sedans so goddam ugly? All of them. With no exceptions.

Add: Japanese and Korean sedans

THE MISSION

My boyfriend E is obsessed with two things: Star Wars and sandwiches. During a Sunday lunchtime viewing of "Return of the Jedi" he told me: "you are 300 sandwiches away from an engagement ring!" ... And so, I got cooking ...

ABOUT ME

I'm a Midwest girl living in New York, a writer and foodie who loves a good meal. I love chocolate, pork buns, and sushi more than I love a sale at Saks. I'm a woman who loves her man, but also never backs down from a challenge. If he wants three hundred sandwiches, then I'll deliver.

she has to be a troll

guy should make her make 300 different kinds of stews instead

It's very simplistic, but I feel like part time jobs should count as half a job. When we have headlines saying "jobless claims fall to a six year low, hooray economy!!" I cant help but feel that sentiment is misleading because people still feel poor as shit with their part time pay.

Overall joblessness is a mixed bag. There are so many people on part time wages, who are sported by their families, who work for charities, who are doing all sorts of things that skew the statistics. In the UK we look at NEET figures (Not in Education, Employment or Training) but even those don't give full pictures.
