Things you just don't get - Page 435

I saw a hot neighbor at the park sunbathing in a skimpy bikini, while I was walking the dogs. She saw me, got up, walked towards me, and we started talking for about 5 min. I don't get that razor thin dynamic of chit chat that can be harmless - I said: "working on a tan?" to what I really wanted to say: "HOLY SHIT YOUR BODY IS AMAZING THANK YOU FOR DISPLAYING IT FULLY... NO REALLY THANKS !"

its a weird thing here in NYC during the summer, you'll have normal women walk to the grass in a park in their office attire, proceed to strip down to a bikini they're wearing as underwear and lay there.

She knows that's what you're thinking, and she likes the attention. Otherwise she would've feigned not seeing you.

I often feign not seeing people, as their constant compliments concerning my degree of sexiness grow tiresome betimes. Hey, it's just how it be, you know?

It really is. Every time I book a flight, I think, "we're flying out of Atlanta. It's the busiest airport in the world. This won't be bad." But most of the time I'm floored at how much it costs. The only flights I've taken that have been reasonable are ATL-TPA and ATL-Chicago. Other than that, it's always more than I think it should be (and more than other regional airports). When I was in Athens, I actually drove to Greenville once to fly because it dramatically cheaper and not much farther away.

I did that. Plus, my mom was looking from a computer in another state. The odd thing is that prices spiked recently (I'd done some cursory searching prior), so I'm going to keep checking back.

Truth be told, the most shocking part was that the regional airports were dramatically cheaper despite flying me to Atlanta so that I could take the same flight I was trying to price out with Atlanta as the destination. I'm sure there's some metric/economic reason they do that, but it's just insane to see in action.

Fixed.

What I don't get are people who prefer soda with their vodka instead of tonic water. I was at this new hotel bar last saturday where I was served a vodka soda instead of the vodka tonic that I ordered. Even at $14 I decided to keep drinking it to see if I could get used to the taste. I couldn't. I nearly left without finishing it. Fortunately the bartender corrected the mistake with a new drink when I mentioned it in passing.

We can fly round-trip to SF for about what it costs to fly round-trip to Atlanta (from New York).

Unfortunately, my wife's family lives in Atlanta, so we fly there a lot. We spend an obscene amount of money on flights every year without going anywhere fun frown.gif

Really. I am a Delta flyer so I connect thru Atlanta a lot. Always thought that it would hard to beat living in Atlanta for travel convenience and cost

People who put chocolate, Girl Scout cookies, etc... In the freezer. Totally changes up the texture to a crispy brick with no flavor. Don't get it

I believe it.

We flew from ATL to NY a few years ago, and the only way to make it reasonable was to go through Newark.

I thought the same thing back when we came up to Athens/Atlanta, but I was surprised at how wrong I was.

Like I mentioned, there are a couple of routes that are very reasonable - I can get to Tampa for $200 round trip, sometimes a little less, and Chicago was a good deal from what I recall (though we had to fly into O'Hare and out of Midway - but for the most part there's no "volume discount," so to speak.

its true... JFK-SFO is shockingly cheap (direct flights no less) sometimes well under $300 roundtrip.

Definitely. I don't know if it's just because they figure they've got you by the balls (probably) or if there are some really high access charges/taxes that the airport charges airlines, but it is stupid expensive to fly directly to/from Atlanta. Sucks.

We routinely pay $400 pp round trip from LGA > ATL. Most other similar-distance airports are about $200-$250. Like I said, SFO is about $400 round trip, and that's, what, 4x the distance?
