It has to do with the tradition that the ballots are burned after each vote.

False. Where do you think the hydrocarbons came from in the first place? Germs, that's where.

I don't understand why they need to vote. If they all are so holy and in such good communication with God, would it not be something that they should as the big guy upstairs about? Surely God would make it clear who he thought would be the best person to lead over a billion of his faithful followers. Who knows, maybe he might have input on the nickname too; perhaps God wanted him to be called "Kevin" or "Tony" instead of "Benedict" or "Francis"

Some things are best left as mysteries. For instance: God will smite you for your impertinence and questioning of his ways. However, none of us are privy to how or when this will happen. We just know that it will.

Or perhaps God isn't catholic so his input isn't necessary

Try as you might, you won't hurry the smiting.

This is a very interesting fallacy of numbers. I mean, for much of the history of the Catholic church, there was not even a billion people on Earth, let alone in the Catholic church.

How is that at all germaine? There are a billion now, does that make it harder for Him to make His will known?

The guy that sits behind me has this nervous tic where he coughs during every phone call. I haven't heard him cough once aside from calls. The weird thing is that this started only about a month ago. It's become very irritating.

God is immutable, unchangeable, eternal. It would not matter if there was only one Catholic or 100 billion Catholics.
