I wanted that when I turned 23...

Gonna need some selective focus hearing aids to cut the noise but boost the nearby speech.

On the whole, yeah. Banking, specifically S&T, is a different story, but broadly? Most people I know never show up before 9:30. Before I lived in New York, it seemed like 8:30 was the norm for most places.

I have one place like that, it's a small place with only locals (ie - no bridge and tunnel crowd). The others tend to be a mix.

I think any place above 59th on either side of the park st is a miss for drinking honestly. Also, Union Square, where I work has a lot of drinking places, but most of them are horrible.

there's places, but it's not to the level of a few select areas that are really, really superb.

I dislike USQ for drinking, but just north, near Madison Square Park, has some prime food/drink spots.

Very true, and Milk & Honey moved to 23rd street. icon_gu_b_slayer[1].gif

I don't like the name Milk & Honey so I will probably never go there

I don't like it either, but you should give it a try. I mean I don't like the name Daniel, but...

Oh, and to make it better there is no sign.

Daniel is a great name. It's also fairly typical of a lot of restaurants to use human names instead of ingredients. I find the latter tends to have crappy food (even semi food names like Buttermilk Channel).

the no sign theme is clearly an indication of style over substance. The worst bar I've ever been to was one of those "it's really a coffee place - but walk into the rear door and it becomes a hidden bar!"

You don't like Buttermilk Channel? smack.gif

Actually, I don't like it as much anymore. Impossible to get into these days, and the food has gone downhill a bit. Used to be great though, we ate there all the time for the first year or so it was open.

Horses for courses.

People that speed by you so they can get to the red light first. I used to see this daily during my commute, baffled me. Are people so zoned out when they drive that they are not able to understand that we are both going to end up at the same red light, and speeding towards it only increases your chances of getting at ticket and wastes fuel?

Anywyas, I am going to Carnegie Hall tonight, anybody have any good pre-orchestra drinking place recommendations?

nope. Was a big bummer, and the fried chicken wasn't particularly good either. Great, you got the meat more tender and plentiful than KFC, but the taste isn't a particular step up and it's far more expensive. The best fried chicken I've ever had was at Manton's house.

also, the B-C people shafted us with like 5 espressos we didn't order on the bill. We complained, they said sorry, and then they gave us a new bill with 3 espressos on it. Would have really ruined the evening if the food was good.
