I feel your pain, Mike.

Not true. I have seen movies about these people.

Canned chicken is not terrible, and is good hiking food, like canned tuna. Obviously I wouldn't eat it first choice at home.

Because the blue box kind is both cheaper and tastier than that.

Lol. No.

Well, you can laugh and disagree but I'm the one enjoying my savings and macaroni dish instead of eating whatever results from making fettucine alfredo with 'passable parm and pasta' in 10 minutes.

I'll agree with the sentiment that there are easy things to make which don't take much time or effort and when done right are better than the boxed stuff. But that's significantly different from what LawrenceMD wrote because most people would probably end up serving something significantly worse than ol' blue -- which is precisely why such people keep eating it. That is, if they knew how to make something better and all other things are equal then of course they wouldn't eat the boxed stuff, but the fact of the matter is they don't and they aren't.

Besides, there's much easier stuff out there that's a lot better than the best fettucine alfredo.

I wasn't arguing it, though. That should've been obvious from the fact that you yourself bolded two paragraphs that were explicitly in agreement.

I was just saying I (and presumably others) generally like Kraft macaroni and cheese more than whatever would've resulted from the fettucine alfredo you described plus it's cheaper.

You like Kraft mac and cheese? I just don't get why people post such private information about themselves online.

I made that box of kraft last night.

Threw in a chopped chicken breast and some frozen peas and [inspired by this thread] tossed in some microplaned parm.

It was alright...mostly nostalgically tasty
The box of mac & cheese was $1. The boring chicken wasn't a great addition, but the peas and parm were helpful and probably added another buck to the cost. I've had the more expensive hamburger helper, and I think this was definitely better. Had enough left over for lunch (but would not if the chicken was removed).
