Texans shouldn't use such words. There is only one division that matters: Texans and non-Texans.

lol nice

I don't use it as an insult, more in the comical sense.

As I've mentioned many times, I work in a three story building. I often see people using the elevator on the second floor, which seems somewhat sad to me. But today I saw something even sadder. The elevator door on the second floor was starting to close, so this woman (more than a little overweight, as always) starts sprinting toward the elevator to try to get in. If you can sprint to the elevator, you can probably walk down one flight of stairs.

At first I couldn't figure out what the hell a manif was. It took me a second to figure out it was one of those ridiculous two-syllable abbreviations for manifestation--a demonstration. (It was talking about the demonstrations in Paris in favor of same-sex marriage.) Also, "homo" in French is not an insult; again, they can't resist reducing a word to two syllables.

It tends to be more in left wing leaning papers...

It sounds younger and more appealing to their readers..

Liberation is famous for it...

I hadn't made that connection explicitly about Libé, but as soon as you mentioned it I realized you were right. (Le Monde and Libé are the two papers I read regularly.)

There's a lot of news again today in Libé about "l'union homo."

Quite a divisive issue with a clear separation between rural and urban France with a hint of religious zest to it..

More than 60% is for it but the adoption issue will be harder to sell..

I never understand what people expect when they ask me, "You know of any apartments to rent?" Why the fuck would I? I am not a realtor. On top of that I am not even part of the rental market. "Oh, yes there is this amazing place on 8th ave, unit 2E you should see. I use astral projection to peruse vacant apartments while I sleep just for the hell of it!! You're in luck!"

I remember once at a coffee shop this girl walks up to me that I didn't even know and asked me if I know of a cheap 3 bedroom apartment to rent a month from now. I looked at her like, "are you fucking serious?"

it's because people are lazy and don't want to believe the prices they see online.

Maybe she was into you and thought that would be a good way to start a conversation. I had a girl ask me once about parking violations. Do I look like a meter maid?

Anyway, what did you say?

I said, "Why would I?"

...she was gross.

laugh.gif She was probably a grenade that got that as advice from a better-looking friend on how to start a conversation with strangers.

Good choice of words, by the way. Crass without a lack of class.

She had crazy in her eyes. I guess she got that place because I see her often in the neighborhood. Her face is pretty actually, but she is very chunky from the waist down, not in a good way either. She wears makeup like a clown, smokes cigarettes like crazy, always has huge headphones around her neck. Her entire persona screams, "unstable". I imagine she is in her 20's but the way she holds herself and acts is more like a 15 year old girl.

Fat smokers are the worst. If you're going to smoke, at least appreciate the effects of nicotine.

wearing really expensive over the ear headphones on the subway. i know crime isn't that prevalent even in the hoods of NYC, but its a good way to experience the rare occurrence of being mugged for "cans".

I bought another disc by Bob Mould. I don't know why. Barring his foray into electronica, everything he's put out these past 10 years sounds pretty much the same.
