Things you just don't get - Page 301

I haven't listened to many new bands in a really long time. All of it sounds pretty unmemorable and disposable. It could just be that I am getting older, and when you get out of college you have less time for it, but that is what I feel. It feels like I stopped listening to music after about 2006.

^I'm in the same boat; however, I am still in school. I'm set in my ways I guess.

I went to a benefit concert featuring Lady Antebellum a few weeks ago. I was in the lobby when the band started playing Honky-Tonk Woman, and I thought we were hearing a cheesy cover band that was opening for LA. Nope, it was the main attraction. I lasted about three more songs before I insisted that we leave, in order to preserve what little remaining sanity I still possess.

I went through this phase a while back. It was Nothing But Classical for years. Then I went back to the oldies: Clash, Zep, Alice in Chains, Bob Dylan, a few others. Then maybe about two years ago I started rifling though some mp3 files our exchange student left and found Arcade Fire. After that I've probably found about a dozen performers who are really worth the time. Most of them came from other SF members, funny enough.

I don't get AAAC.

Why some people think having"swag" is cool

hmmm.... felt lucky that after growing up in the 80s by the time I finished college glam rock was on its deathbed and "teen spirit" and "evenflow" were about to explode. music after college for me was awesome during that time: alice in chains, sonic youth, jesus and mary chain, manic street preachers, liz phair, tanya donelly's bands, dinosaur jr, mazzy star, massive attack, beck....

You have to tune your computer to 1965.

Girls in the booth next to me this morning who spent the entire time talking about needing to lose weight and how they were going to do it while scarfing down chocolate chip pancakes.

It makes me happy that the germans of all people have a word for that. It smacks of a self awareness that they don't normally exhibit.

Sorry guys, no pics. They actually looked in decent shape to me and one of them was cute enough. Just thought the conversation over such a meal was absurd.
