Things you just don't get

And you weren't hooked after that?! Sailing well is fun but ******* up is exciting!

I've never been a big fan of catamarans (not that I have spent a lot of time on them)

Those little hobies go fast in a straight line, but they handle like a dog and they don't feel nearly as dynamic as a monohull.

If I had a place with a beach, I would keep a sunfish on it, not a Hobie 14/16...boat rigs up in approximately 45 seconds (one line to hoist the sail and then you are done) and then you just drag it into the water. Dirt cheap and very few parts to break.

Gets a little cramped with two 6ft dudes on it, but its a great boat for messing around solo, and is also good for a casual sail with a ladyfriend.

The 16' Hobies with a main and jib are much better than the 14' with main alone. If I were going to get into multihulls it would definitely be tris. Catamarans are only superior for gigantic cruising monstrosities and foiling.

My boat has a 12' cockpit... we can fit a TON of dudes in it!

Today I was standing in line waiting to get a sandwich guy says "I'll have some chutney on my sandwich." But the sandwich artist said "We don't have chutney just not a product we carry." The customer threatened to take his business across the street (to another restaurant), but the sandwich artist said they probably wouldn't have chutney either.

i dont understand why people get upset about cultural appropriation. everything is cultural appropriated in every culture. thats how cultures evolve

i wonder if it's a white american type of mindset. i don't recall koreans being prickly over imitating other cultures. vietnamese places in korea don't even know what cilantro is. pizza places put spam and corn on top of their processed cheeses. italian places make dishes you'd only see in olive garden like penne a la vodka

I think I know what prompted your post (conversation on FB page of a mutual friend), and I think in that case the person who is angry about it perceives an unjust manipulation of a difference in social capital. I frankly don't know enough about the case to judge whether that's fair.
