I see that with friends of mine that live in DC. They're constantly going to events, eating out, going for drinks. I have no idea how they afford it, since they're all on the fed pay scale too. far when you're paying $2k/month in rent and doing dinner/drinks 3-4 times a week in an expensive city.
I don't dine out that much, but the drinking kills me. It's hard for me to leave a bar with a bill under $30. I've done pretty well saving money on vacations this year -- piggybacked mini-vacations on to work trips (San Juan, Miami).
