I don't get chicks who wear those shorts that show the bottom quarter of their ass and then spend all day tugging them down to cover it

I've definitely had concierges get me into places that I couldn't have just walked into.

Both the New Orleans Ritz and the Montreal W concierges have worked wonders. Did the "I'll see what I can do and give you a call later today" thing. In Montreal, it was pretty clear that the last minute seats they were holding for us at the bar were supposed to be first-come-first-served, and they were holding them only because the concierge asked nicely.

Varies by chain or hotel though (and I think some chains have rules about what kind of kickbacks they can accept). Stayed at a Marriott in Boston last fall and the concierge sent me to a empty restaurant with mediocre overpriced food. I was skeptical when I noticed how empty it was, but I decided to risk it since I was hungry, it was getting late, and the other places I wanted to go to were super busy...and who knows, it was sunday night so maybe he sent me to a great spot that just doesn't get busy at off-hours. Nope...dude probably got a kickback for filling a table in a crap tourist restaurant.

I've had pretty good luck with hotel concierge folk and my AMEX concierge service.

concierge aside, i suspect NOLA and Montreal are way better cities to stay in than Boston in any case.

When we went to Richmond VA for a wedding I looked around for a side trip and Boston seemed to be mediocre and overpriced all the way around.

I wish I had kept my Zync card. Only $25 in annual fees and you get all the major perks like purchase protection and return protection. The card looked really cool too. Cashiers would think I was some God Tier baller because they had never seen it before.. little did they know it was the lowest tier card laugh.gif

Never used my Visa Signature concierge service, although I hear it can be good. Don't think my SPG Amex includes it.

What's wrong with boston? I was there for work on a Monday, so I flew in Sunday morning to dick around for a day and I had a blast. Only thing I did that wasn't awesome was that concierge-recommended restaurant.

Best experience ever using the AMEX Plat concierge was to get into Robuchon's second place in Vegas. I tried to make reservations myself, and not only did they have nothing that day, they had nothing +/- 30 days of my requested date! They also only made reservations on the half hour. The AMEX concierge not only got us in but got us in on the quarter hour like I wanted.

meh. it seemed like a more expensive, pretentious version of philadelphia. i'm sure both are lovely places with lovely people tho.

at the time, it was either north to boston/portland, south to n. carolina, or DC. we ended up in DC. it was fine, maybe shoulda done carolina.

richmond was nice too. wedding was at a museum/house that had slave quarters. coming from cali, it was interesting to spend time around some southern history.
