when i sold it (on my own) i stupidly put an ad in an auto classifieds. it's a total scam, just signed myself up for come-ons from auto consignment / financing outfits (sort of how headhunters abuse linkedin). i'm shopping for buyers, not starving fee-based middlemen. ended up making a killing on cl, way way way over blue book. arguably it's value was at an all-time high lol.

i am wondering what make/model is at issue here... it kinda begs the question: if it's a highly desirable model, why would you need help moving it?

EDIT: also, you have a "normal car dealer"? i'm sorta impressed!

By "normal" I meant where I get it serviced (I'm not Hroi who is on a first name basis with everyone at the local Porsche dealership).  It isn't anything special it is a previous gen Lexus GS 350.

Speaking of cold calls about cars: our gardener called us the other day to ask if we were interested in selling my daughter's 1995 VW GTI VR6. It was parked out on the curb the last time he came to our house and one of his workers is a huge GTI fan, apparently. I had to tell him no, of course, because it's a blast to drive and now that my daughter is away at college I have taken on the responsibility of making sure it gets driven at least once a week. icon_gu_b_slayer[1].gif

You gotta tuna piano or guitar, not salads (unless they contain them string beans, in which case it's needed in order to ensure your meal is in harmony). We don't need a tuna czar in these United States.

You're on a two lane road stuck behind someone doing 10mph under the limit. You come to a stop light and it's one of those ones that opens up to another lane at the light and then narrows back down. You pull into the other lane, and when the light changes, hit the gas to get in front of the slowpoke. Former slowpoke then starts to tailgate you as you're doing 10mph over the limit.

PSA: when you whip out your phone on a down escalator, please know that the ten people on the escalator with you can read your screen. It just can't be helped - your screen is right where everyone is looking when they are riding an escalator

Also - people can't wait until they leave their place of employment before they start sexting??!

Hate it!

Or when you are on said two lane road and the speed limit drops but the car doing 5-10 under keeps going the same speed and is now speeding through a town at 10-15 over the speed limit.

Why is it that when you pull the top off a fruity Liberty yogurt it comes completely off just fine in a single piece but with the non-fruit varieties (e.g. vanilla or coconut) the top always rips and half stays stuck on? confused.gif

We have school zones in our municipality that drops the limit to 15 by crossings and cops really patrol it and you get triple fine for school zone (which no doubt is why cops do speed traps there). I've seen that type of person several times get nailed as, while they won't get near the proper speed limit, neither do they slow down for the school crossing. Makes me very happy. smile.gif

Was behind a car and a truck on a country highway this weekend (one lane each way, passing areas as appropriate).
They were probably going about the speed limit of 55, car either didn't want to pass the truck or just didn't care.

My passing zone opens up, I start to accelerate my rented toyota...but I'm not making it past the truck. Hit 80, still not clear ahead of the truck. Hit about 90 before I can pull back over into my lane and settle back down around 80. Even then, motherfucker is still behind me for a while until he finally drifts back down to his previous speed.

Seemed like somebody's penis extension wasn't sufficient for their manhood to survive being passed so they had to try and prevent it. Shit's dangerous...I hand plenty of room to make a clean pass if he had just kept going the same speed...not so much if he suddenly accelerates another 25-30mph.

My major driving peeve of the moment is people who slow way the hell down on curves on the highway. Here is a major tip: curves on 2-lane divided highways east of Appalachia can be taken at 75+mpg (even in your damn minivan in the left lane.) Either use the cruise control of pay attention to your speedometer.

People who have stickers on their car. Why? I like my car as clean as possible. If I wasn't leasing, I'd probably totally debadge so my car looked cleaner

Or people slowing down at a hill. Use cruise control or put some pressure on that damn pedal!

That's why you have brakes.
