In general lotteries are nothing but a tax on the poor and stupid...which is why I endorse them so strongly.

Pretty inefficient, though, no? We should man up and go full Shirley Jackson/Hunger Games.

Weird coincidence, I have a (female) friend named L'Incandescente who asked me the same question this morning.

You can claim the monopoly through a trust so that no one knows it was you.

I thought most states had rules such that you couldn't claim through a trust without your name and face being made public. You should definitely put it in a trust after that...but I don't think a trust can actually claim a winning ticket (since a trust is not a valid player).

Nah, its more just I make decent money, my expenses are low (especially without car ownership), and I can easily afford the things and travel I generally want to do without worrying.

There are things that are definitely out of my reach that I would hop right on if I found a pile of money. Get a bigger boat. Become a car owner...so that I can easily drive to my cottage on the beach. Etc.

But I know those things are either currently out of reach or not sound financial decisions right now...so I don't really pine for them so long as I continue being able to eat fancy food and travel as I please.

It may be true that winning the lottery ruins people's lives, but I'm perfectly fine with giving it a shot nonetheless (in theory at least - I've never played the lottery)

It's like how biggie's mo money mo problems is nonsense. It's true that having money presents a unique set of issues, but you still don't have bigger problems than a broke ass motherfucker

The study I saw sounded like you "aren't happier"...as in they couldn't observe a statistically significant increase in happiness.

So fucking what? I'd rather be equally happy but with a pile of cash...why not?

As they say, I'd rather cry in a Ferrari than on the public bus.
If you cry in a Ferrari it will automatically open the passenger, as it assumes you are female and just got dumped.

Okay so I had the Gibson custom shop make me a pink Les Paul with a white scratchplate. You know what they did? They took an old stock Jay Jay Frentch Epiphone Les Paul and attached a white scratchplate to it parently thought I would not notice what they han done.

I don't get why you think anyone who knows about guitars would think you know anything about guitars … clearly that's why you didn't post this in the guitar thread. Sprinkling that chili again I see.

I don't get why homes in climates where snow is normal, doesn't come with some sort of build in shoes tray drain for wet footwear.

I have been playing the electric bass guitar since I was 14 years old. (Not the same one I don't want to suggest the wrong thing.) I have always played guitar too, but that's always been secondary. Recently I've been playing guitar more, though. I am a Spector playin' man don't even matter whether we're talking bass (NS-2, NS-4) or guitar (NS-6).

Just on aesthetic grounds, though, I do like dat Les Pauls, but I strongly prefer them to have scratchplates. You can't get the classic Les Paul with scratchplate look by screwing one onto a Jay Jay French Epiphone Les Paul, though. You just can't.

should you be posting this as StrumminFool? or was it TwanginFool?

I think you are referring to TrillinFool. I don't know TrillinFool's password and so I cannot post as him. I only know my own password which is how it should be it's a bad idea to share passwords.
