Honestly it's brutal. My productivity goes way down in the winter, which is not exactly good. I'm trying to take Vitamin D and getting a natural spectrum lamp for my office, but damn if late December and January isn't brutal. Not likely to change any time soon either, my lab is in the basement so that's where I'll live for the indefinite future. Wee.

I fucking love when the sun sets at 5pm and I hate it when the sun doesn't set until after 7:30pm. The night time is the right time.

I'm very strongly affected (for the worse) by lack of sunlight, and I'd be miserable if I didn't have my SAD lamps. I've got one at home and one at the office. They're not as good as having real sunshine, but they're still extremely helpful.

Warmer than usual down here, too. We're not typically cold this time of year, but we're definitely missing our normal chill.

You guys should not use a word like "warm" in your discourse unless you've stood on a subway platform in August.

What are the rules on "cool" or "cold" or "chilly"?

I think it depends on the time of year. Last night I went for a walk with my son after dinner. We both remarked how cold it was--probably 60 degrees or so.

Then we laughed at how when it gets up to 60-plus degrees in the spring, we'll probably already be busting out the shorts and flip flops.

I was actually making play on Lincsy's comment because a certain member talks about how NY subway platforms are both the hottest and coldest environments.  That no one can possibly compare.

I was visiting various Dutch schools in the city for the kids just basically trying to pick the best one. At one of the schools guy introduces himself says "Hi I'm Dolbis Gräzl I teach Intermediate Dutch here at the Acatelmy." Immediately I'm thinking "Oh crap is this the same Gräzl who keeps getting banned from SF for lashing out at the new members? How many Gräzls can there be?" Now I'm not sure how to perceed.

Grazl was Austrian.

I miss his rugged lack of sense of humour.
