I was going to say "something that those of us who had to pull ourselves up by our bootstraps have to worry about."

But your answer is better.

Don't hate on GF because his parents actualized the American Dream TM and were able to pass on intergenerational economic advantages to their offspring. Yes, he was born on third base and thinks he hit a homerun, but isn't that what America is all about?

I don't.  Good for him.  What's the point in being envious of someone?  It doesn't do me any good.

Also, there's so many good reasons to hate on him.

I don't have hate for people whose parents set them up well. Indeed, I have worked hard to do the same for my kids and provide them with opportunities I didn't even know existed when I was young. But I'm not ashamed of hating on smug bragging about the fact that you don't have the problems of the poors simply because you happened to be born to the right parents.

If you don't have student loans because you worked your ass off in school and at work and this paid your way, brag on, but you don't get to gloat about mama and daddy's success and how it benefitted you. There should be no pride in lucking into winning the socioeconomic lottery, only gratitude.

Oh, the baseball analogy was most excellent, Piob.

Y'all's hate towards me is misguided. I have an ex coworker from my consulting days who not only had his undergrad tuition paid for, but also his M7 business school tuition covered by his CFO father.

Also, there are starving children in third world countries. I can't believe y'all would even dare hate on this 1%er when y'all should be grateful for y'all's own blissful living conditions.

Such as his Edina level attempts at humour.

Turns out Piob is Ann Richards. Who would have guessed?

Check your bootstrap privilege.

teacha.gif you think people would realize this. "Hey look at this new baller watch I kopped! (with my dad's credit card)"

EDIT: So I was just watching "Last King of Scotland" and the doc is in Uganda and he says to a local woman… "No we don't have monkeys in Scotland, if we did, we'd probably deep fry them!"

I'll tell you one thing that's really weird is when a person does impersonation of you and the impersonation is like a really gay voice. I know from hearing my voice on audio that I have a very gay style of talking, but it's startling to hear others mimic my style.
