It's been a strange day today. I've been productive, but then out of the blue I became super tired a couple of times and had dreams, such as of pretty guys degarmenting. I wonder if my body is shutting down so it can install new software of lifeways?

Do you "smoke"? I have a connect if you know what I mean.

Legos suck today. Every Lego kit is supposed to be something, with custom pieces specific to the particular item. Generally, there's a cynical promotional tie-in. This entirely defeats the creative element to the play that made legos such a valuable toy.

I don't even believe you can buy a generic box of legos anymore. I suppose you could repurpose blocks assembled across 10 overpriced item-specific kits, but you'd end up with a ton of extra useless pieces.

I don't get how a company can make a ******* commercial for their products and then people line up to pay money to watch the commercial.

I don't begrudge them making money, but as a guy who grew up loving legos as a kid and now has a 4-year-old daughter it's sort of sad that I see no reason to have them in my house today.

Is this true? We're still in Duplo, so I haven't looked at the bigger-kid Legos, but I know you can get generic Duplos (my son got a big bag of them from my dad for Christmas).

On top of being profoundly cynical, not having generic blocks undermines two of the most important parts of Legos - imagination and creativity.

I stand corrected. You can buy generic block sets. I've looked for them in stores actively, and not found them. I even went to Lego's corporate page and spent a few minutes looking around to no avail, but on closer inspection, I do see them now. They're hardly marketed, and you would have to look for them online apparently to buy them, but they are available. Good news.

Never heard of Duplos. Is it the same with Playmobil?

Hmmm, makes me wonder if they're fakes.
