Tax rates are applied at the margin.
So each tax rate only applies to money earned over the cutoff for the bracket (rich people are technically in every tax bracket)

Let's say you had two tax brackets. 10% for less than $100 and 20% for anything over. If you make $100 you pay 10.

If you make 200 you pay 10 on the first 100 and 20 on the second 100 for a total of 30. This puts your effective tax rate at 15%.

If you make 300, you will pay 50 for an effective rate of 17%... so the tax rate actually does increase directly with income (even inside a bracket)... Kind of like a curve.

My problem with boxer briefs is that by the end of the day the cottons all wadded and stretched out and feels like boxers. I wish there was a compression short/boxer brief hybrid.

I've got a few from Calvin Klein like that. Only problem is they don't have the ****/opening whatever-you-call-it to take a piss so solve one problem and create another! lol

I'm not talking about french fries, i'm talking about chips/crisps.

Det kræver en rigtig mand, at spise en hel, da de er sindsygt klamme. :embar:

When you say chips are you referring to french fries? Because that would make perfect sense as they are french cut fried potatoes.

No, I'm talking about chips

But google says
http://sprogmuseet.dk/ord/kamelasa/

He's french and has lived in the country since the 60's, so he should be better, the former national team coach is german and he speak the same way, often referred to as "Sepp Piontek danish".

Lol that was the joke, i just assumed you'd seen the video. The milkman is my favorite. "tusend takk" looool.

There's a few germans in my department, one speaks understandable danish but pronounces it far too clearly (literally pronounces godt goDT) she's studied for about a year in germany and been here as long as I have. the other one has been here for probably four or five years and speaks perfect fluent danish but it sounds a bit like german and he over enunciates as well, but he sounds a lot like other Danish academics. We have some upjumped undergrads from germany and france in a course I'm in, they're all far better than him and the longest any has been here is maybe two years... oh well.

I also suspect from that vid he didn't really understand most of what they were saying, the awkward overlaugh and staring at the ground is pretty typical when you're trying to catch up to a new language.

any rate, gonna go over to my department now and look at danish, maybe hear some too. Don't want to be like the Royal Escort (Escargot real?) or whatever his title is...

Prinsgemalen = Prince Consort

He got promoted a couple years ago, as he felt over looked and people didn't respect him enough. :rotflmao:

They were digging something up out of the ground from some sort of castle and he just showed up out of nowhere.

I've heard the term "marginal tax rates" my entire life but never realized what it technically meant until you described it here. Heck, I've even calculated my taxes by hand a few times - exactly as you described - and didn't realize what I was doing was applying the rates "at the margin" (meaning: marginal). Thanks for connecting the too-obvious-to-see dots1

(rich people are technically in every tax bracket)

If only; I bet 85%+ of average Americans (whose median income was ~51K in 2013) would say 100K is rich, yet they're only at the bottom 4th of 7 brackets. I'd note that's part of the reason why divide-and-conquer political attacks on "the rich" work so well, because it's all relative (ie anybody with relatively more money to someone is "the rich").

I don't get the hate for genetically modified crops. We get vegetables and fruits from a very old local farm that only uses GMO stuff and it is delicious.

An email has come out from our training department offering a class on "how to deal with micromanagement". I think there's a great chance that people who attend will be micromanaged in dealing with micromanagement.

Also, enrollment is confidential so that eliminates the one good reason to attend - to let your boss know in a passive/aggressive way that he is ******* micromanaging you

Should I forward it to my team members telling them that I expect them to attend, write a synopsis afterwards, and let me know the three things they will be doing differently after taking the class?

Because they're, like, genetically modified, man. They are modifying the genetics. I think it's pretty obvious why that's not safe. We shouldn't be playing god.

You should open the door to the conference room while they're mid-training and take note of which of your reports are there.

Make eye contact with them as you write their names on a notepad in plain sight.

And then read a manifesto.
