Things you just don't get - Page 835

Sometimes on Craigslist "Missed Connections" people reach out to me be mention that they saw me in the isle at Schnucks or whatnot. I don't respond to those on account of how hard is it to spell "aisle?"

I don't get why people post political shit on LinkedIn.

Maybe they work in politics?

I don't get why people will scrap their recreational plans if its raining lightly outside. you can still go out for that hike, bike ride, run, ect if its raining.

I think my company is the only one that in their advertisements, internet, or print or whatever they use actual company employees in them. It is weird walking and seeing somebody I know on a billboard at a bus station.

Wait, American Apparel does this too, but let's just say that the average American Apparel employee is a bit easier on the eyes (attractive for the brain to view).

Biking in a nice warm light rain is awesome. I just need to get sunglasses that don't fog up.

+1, especially here in hot, humid Florida. But, it's best here after the rain has started for a bit - when it first starts during a hot day, the initial result is a lot of extra humidity from the rain steaming off the pavements, but once it gets past that it's 100% better than riding in the open sun.

Speaking of which, we haven't had a hurricane hit central or almost anywhere in Florida for a while (knock on wood) but I've made a point of doing my run through and around downtown Orlando in each hurricane we've had for the past 12 years I've lived here. From Cat1 to Cat5 - at the end of my route, there's nothing like running up to the roof of a parking garage in a swirling cat5 in a city that is entirely closed up with nary a person or car to be seen anywhere for miles, it's like being in a movie. On one of those runs power (Charlie?) had been knocked out everywhere too so everything was black. You could see power transformers blowing up for miles around, you could watch and hear big oak trees being uprooted and brought down - amazing to see with your own eyes from a birdseye view.

I treasure every single one of those runs, they were magical.

I miss hurricane season. Also, I know Orlando got beat up in '04 (I can't believe that season was a decade ago), but it hasn't been hit by a cat. 5 in the last 12 years. In fact, I'd wager that it has never been hit by a storm that intense.

And no, I don't.

Too bad, I use their product very frequently. They are definitely going places (although probably not Lucas)

At least around here State Farm has billboards up with the local agent's picture up. There are some very unfortunate looking people who work in insurance.

I can't believe it was a decade either - but you're right, Charlie was "just" a strong Cat4; I think I blurred it with Ivan from the same season that actually was a Cat5 but only when it was in the Carribean/Gulf. '04 was a crazy season- we got blasted with Charlie, Frances, and then Ivan in the space of a month (though Ivan was mostly felt on the gulf coast and not so much inland, but we'd already been stomped to crap by Charlie+Frances) plus some other minor storms in between.

My big point stands though - I did my run in each and every one in that year, plus every tropical depression or higher since smile.gif
