I was looking into buying some R20s but I haven't really heard good things about their quality and communication on sufu. Should i stay away?

What do you guys know about this production?

From what I remember, the guy was difficult to deal with (to say the least) for months, actually produced what he said he would but did a lot of people late, then disappeared from the face of the earth. It's been a long time since that happened, though, it's been quite a while since his last email to me.

I was interested in his 21oz. Sky's when he was putting them out. I'd say that producer is dead in the water.

Bullshit, I run every morning in them. It's been about 1.5 year still no holes or blowout. That being said he's not the best when it comes to communication. Last time I talked to him the R20s will be made according to how ever many people want a pair. It's supposed to be a fusion between the Oris and the Skys. A combination of the best of each of those jeans. His products are great, but the customer service is so and so.

I owned both a pair of Sky and pair of Ori, both of which were very well constructed. I ended up selling them because I wasn't really digging the higher rise of the cut. For the record, not once did I ever have a problem contacting this guy. Within 24 hours, I'd always have a response.

If you like the look of the jeans, I say you go for it.

I'm actually wearing my Ori's today, it's one of my fave jeans along with the Sky which I wear a lot in winter

imo they are great jeans, the cut is a good slim fit. I like the slightly higher rise myself, it's very much like a 1966/67 Levis repro cut. I've had em now for about 2 years, has held up great and the guy Steve was always very easy to communicate with.

for reference I think they run 1" smaller than tag size, and that's what Steve would also tell you (at least on Ori and Sky)

^^ this is an old pic but I'm wearing the 21oz Sky in them (Ori is same cut, different fabric- 15oz) I think these were right out of the box when I took this pic, since then they've softened up nicely and even tho it's 21oz denim it's very soft and easy to wear, not stiff

I miss my Ori and Sky, they both wound up too small for me after time

Anyone gotten a pair of R20s yet?

I've been trying to contact him about getting a pair, but haven't heard back in a while

What's the R20?

I know he was working on a model called Thor (bamboo cotton), which I wanted just for the name

The Thor never came through. The bamboo fabric was great in theory, but it didn't wear so well when he had the sample.

In the bad economy, do you really want to spend your money supporting brands who spam the **** out of multiple forums to sell their product, and is renowned for having abysmal customer service, when there are countless other companies who run reputable businesses?

Personally, ESEF could come out with a 21oz denim dyed 30 times in natural indigo with solid gold rivets, with the perfect fit, for $50 a pair, I still wouldn't buy it.
