Edward Green Black Newbury: 888 or 606 last?

I'm thinking of getting an Edward Green Newbury in black. I remember my first visit to the Berluti store in midtown and for whatever reason wanted a black wholecut after that.

I always thought I wanted this on the 888 last, but the 606 is making me think. Would the softer square toe be better than the sharper, sleeker look on a black wholecut? Thoughts?

I'd go with the 606 myself.

I agree. The 606 is more timeless.

if youre getting the newbury in black i recommend 82 last as that seems more appropriate for a dressier black wholecut. i like 606 on derbies and bluchers but that's me.

The 606 is a wonderfully classic last and IMO overall a better fitting last than the elongated and somewhat "pinched" 808.

to put a spin on this, I prefer the 808 to the other lasts.

I like the 8000 last.

Has anyone ever seen or posted a photo of a Newbury in 888 and in 606 side by side? (Paging aportnoy?)

From that it actually looks as if the 888 is better!
