From my experience, that's a very rare experience. How long did you give it a chance? There is a deffinite learning curve, but once you get your technique dialed in, the shaves should far surpass what a cartridge razor will give you. Personally, it took me about 3 months of wet shaving before I could say my shaves were better than my old methods. Just last week I was traveling and ended up using cartridge razors (TSA and all) and after three days my face was in a world of hurt. I'd be happy to give you some advice if you're willing to try again.

Charles takes a very very scientific approach to this, and the whole system can seem excessively confusing. Personally, I haven't found any of his techniques or products to improve my shave, but others swear by them. I also think the "science" behind the whole thing is somewhat suspect and often flat out wrong, but Charles honestly believes in what he writes and the products he sells. So you have to tip your cap to him on that. If you follow the history of method shaving, you'll find Charles will often completely change his opinion of products if he's got something new to replace it. Just remember he is a salesman and take everything with a grain of salt. Actually, a lot of the recommended products are just regular wet shaving products, so there's a bit of overlap. I do like the after shave cream. Works good.
