Scott Walker

Are any SFers a fan of Scott Walker, or even know of the guy?

I've just rekindled my interest after watching a documentary on Netflix Instant - Scott Walker - 30 Century Man. Highly recommended viewing, you will want to download his records after watching this.

The guy started out as a bit of a teen idol, transitioned into writing some of his own stuff and performing brilliant covers of Jacque Brel, and ultimately made a couple of the most nightmarish and original records Ive ever heard (Tilt and Drift. He has golden baritone voice, that's still pretty evident even on his latest records. Apparently for several years during the 1960s his group was the biggest thing in the UK next to the Beatles.

Here's a representative clip of the kind of bit he did during his early career where the guy just oozes star quality. Hard to guess he'd choose a life of seclusion trying to make transcendent albums.

And here is what Scott is up to these days:

Any self respecting Nick Cave fan should be aware of Cave's biggest influence, Scott Walker.

Huge Scott Walker fan here from his years in Nashville. He's 90% grind and 10% talent. Glad to see he's found a home with the Canes.

Scott Walker is super and I don't understand why only so few people know of him (or at least, so it seems..) You should youtube Jacques Brel - some early Scott lyrics is actually Brel's, translated to English.
