How much unused clothing do you have in your closet?

I mean, I can see how a normal person can, but a Style Forumite?

Oh, I could. I normally wear odd jacket and tie, which is far dressier than anyone I work with wears, and the occasion to wear a suit just comes up very rarely.

Although I have seven suits, only two would be rated decent by SFers (a Corneliani and a Chan).

I should think that if one dresses well, one would have enough tailored clothing to accommodate the changing seasons.

It appears he has no intention, and rather this thread should be entitled, 'Things I have that I do not use which are not for sale".

I'm doing a lot better than I was before I moved this year.

Not much in the unworn category, but quite a few lightly worn items that I should just unload somehow....

My goal now is to have a tight collection of heavy rotation items, because I hate to be wasteful.....

BTW did you find those ties that I've been waiting for in your closet?

mine is all pre-SF stuff. maybe 60% of my closet

the post-SF stuff is in the regular rotation, except for 3-5 items that don't fit well or are online acquisitions that came with issues

wow...that unworn stuff is almost a mini-wardrobe itself.

I thin my closet at least once a year. I don't have too many unworn items, but I do have lots of items that are seasonal and thus worn only for part of the year. I do have a lot of shoes that get little wear, but I like them and keep them, regardless.

Many ties, a couple shirts, a couple sweaters. That's pretty much it. When I get something new, I generally want to wear it ASAP (unless it's out of season). Whether it gets worn once or 20x is a different story.

That's been my revelation. If i buy something now and it does not get worn within a month, I did not need to buy it.

(BTW, nothing here is for sale, please do not PM me guys)

I've pretty much come to the same conclusion Ed has.

I'll be phasing out my RTW shirts, now slowing building up my MTM selection.
I've stop buying RTW jackets/sportscoats in favor of going bespoke on the cheap
I believe I have enough shoes, although this is always changing.

I have some very nice fitting pants and shirts, and like the way I feel to be able to put them on, KNOW that I look good without fussing all the time. Basically just dress and forget. That's what I'm going for now.

BTW, I also find my Polo/C&J shell cordovan Darlton wingtip blucher HIGHLY overrated. The shape is sort of blobby, inelegant, and I actually avoid wearing it in favor of my Alden.
