Tour de France 2009 Thread - Page 14

Gentleman,

Did you see what Contador said about Lance.......the full text may be found on Velonews.com

"Tour de France winner Alberto Contador on Monday launched a stinging attack on teammate Lance Armstrong, saying relations between the two were tense throughout the race.

"My relationship with Lance is non-existent. Even if he is a great champion, I have never had admiration for him and I never will," the Spaniard told a news conference in Madrid."

Interesting...I read and saw the tour like everone else did, but I did not know it was this tense....I always though Condator admired Lance...even though he had troubles with this tour.

yeah, I read about that. Pretty much one of the douchy-est things you could say after winning the tour, he sounds like a sore winner (weird).

It did seem pretty tense for most of the Tour, and Lance obviously wanted to say more than he would allow himself. I think Lance was having his own issues, not having a team ride just for him to win the Tour. However, it did seem to me Lance did some duties you would expect seconds to do for their captains, and I thought it was the right thing to do, ride in more or less support of Contador.

Why Contador said this, I don't know.

From Lance Armstrong's Twitter, most abbreviations converted into full words and capitalization added: "Seeing these comments from AC. If I were him I'd drop this drivel and start thanking his team. Without them, he doesn't win." "Hey pistolero, there is no "I" in "team." What did I say in March? Lots to learn. Restated." What Lance said after the last stage of the Tour was also very telling. When asked how it would be to race against Contador next year, and whether he saw any weaknesses in the Spaniard, he replied, "He's a complete rider, very strong" but added "I see some weaknesses there, but I'm gonna keep them to myself."

Correct, about 18 miles from the Missouri state line.

So much for a clean tour; Velonews reports that Mikel Astarloza tests positive for EPO, UCI says.

He won, stage 16 of this year's TDF.

I wonder what else will be revealed in the next coming weeks or months. You have to wonder if being caught is even in their minds when they cheat. Then again, they must be under tremendous pressure to perform at the highest level...
