reduce shine/facial oil

Hi.

I don't have an acne problem. I just have excessive facial oil, so my forehead shines like crazy. Is there a product that works well for this problem?

Thanks

I have oily skin too, although I haven't done a whole lot of experimentation with different products, but I'm happy with Clearasil's daily face wash (which you can pick up at probably any drug store). I wash my face in the morning with it, and it keeps my face oil-free til early afternoon. I've also tried Nivea for men's multi protection lotion (persuaded by TV commercial), not as good as the cheaper Cleaasil.

Proactiv's moisturizer helped me when I used that product, as I did not suffer from acne either, but it did keep my face from being oily during the day.

Any facial wash/moisturizer can only do so much.

Best solution is to get yourself some blotting sheets and just blot out the excessive oil once in a while.

I use clearisil daily face wash oil control, comes in like a bottle the comes out as a foam, it is really good. I used all the expensive products but none really did it for me. Theres a guy on here, forgot his user name who knows alot about this stuff and has a blog he posted on here.

+1.

Be careful with oil control washes and moisturizers, some are extremely harsh. I'm thinking of clinique and Lab series oil control hydrators for men, for example. Terrible. They stop the oil but go so far as to make you flake: from oily skin to dry skin.

Use alcohol swabs from the drug store (or in a pinch, screen cleaners for monitors). Cheap and cheerful solution, and you can carry one in your pocket.

This may be a little expensive but here is what I do. I use Dermalogica's clay cleanser in the morning, then I follow up with a Kiehl's Blue Herbal Astringent, and then I finish up with Kiehl's Blue Herbal Moisturizer. The first two absorb oil and the moisturizer is a mattifier. I don't really know if you want to use the astringent though, because it worked for me the first week and I think my skin got used to it so it doesn't do much anymore. And I don't think alcohol is that good for your face anyway. Sometimes, I'll use a blotting sheet around noon to get rid of some oil.

neutrogena alcohol free skin toner helped reduced the shine / grease from my face.

I've encountered another dilemma, thanks to the blazing summer sun, I have to apply both oil remover and sunblock lotion, whichever I apply later will cancel out the effect of prior products, anyone has a winning strategy?

You can use a toner (I like Origins Oil Refiner toner) then a matte moisturizer such as Shiseido Anti-Shine Refresher or Clarins Shine Free Gel. I've used the Shiseido one and it works, but for like 3-4 hours. Aha, then it's back to oily forehead. But that's probably because I have excessive oily skin compared to others. According to the product, it should work for 6 hours.

But the item that has been my savior are the Clean & Clear sheets. They work quickly and you can see it working once the paper has been severley sucked up with oil. Kinda nasty, but interesting. Aha. (Go on Ebay and purchase them. I get about 600 sheets or 6-7 packs for about 18 dollars).

Simple, use an Asian sunblock - they're pretty much the pioneers when it comes to fomulating excellent sunscreens that leave the skin completely matte (so much so that someone with normal skin would find that their skin becomes rather dry after a few days using them). The best two would be Shiseido Sun Lotion SPF 50+ (not Cream) which is available worldwide and Sofina Lucent SPF50+ which you can buy online. Both offer the same protection and the same completely matte finish.

I'm writing a post about shine control at the moment and these two products are among the best, no need for long winded routines including layers several products, toners etc..

Go to Sephora and get this: http://www.smashbox.com/ANTI-SHINE_2 I use it. It actually works. Keeps the shine in control for a good 8 hours in my case. Small container and seemingly expensive but a tiny dab is all you need. After some research on the product, I read that milk of magnesia works too as a muuuch cheaper substitute although I've not personally tried it. This smashbox product also has an active ingredient of magnesium.
