Double points if you have the St George's flag hanging out of your house's window...

Describing every item for sale in B/S as a "staple" was pretty cool a year ago, but I predict will start generating backlash in just a short matter of time. After that, I predict the term "grail" will take its place and enter the cycle.

Also, I'm wondering when describing even the most machine-made item as having "decent handwork" is going to get old. The only items on which I ever observe true "handwork" are certain Italian tailored items (Isaia, Kiton, Brioni, SP, Attolini), Oxxford, MG for BB, and a few others.

Sorry, but that pickstitching on your Brooks 1818 suit was not done by hand, and does not qualify as "handwork."

At saturation and listing toward overhyped: soporific ties. I love 'em, but criminy, they aren't always the answer. It's starting to feel like anything that isn't soporific is going to take flak.

I will also award a Rave Review to Senor Corbera's serious posts, while snark has passed into "backlash" status.

Im calling pre-emptive backlash on grenadine ties.

I think the recent (and informative) grenadine deconstruction thread will keep that fever alive for at least a few more months -- especially with the sudden interest in garza fina grenadines sparked by the thread.

I'm starting to notice the pendulum's swinging back in favor of "fun" socks, after what has been a lengthy backlash. I predict we'll see a revival of sock porn in general in early 2011.

Thats whats making me think that they are being scooped up and hoarded now, ready for a blast of exposure once everyone is back from the holidays.

I myself, have a lovely Brioni garza fina in hunter green that I will be debuting shortly. Pre-full on backlash, of course.

Would be interesting to see simultaneous fads for soporific ties and fun socks.

The fun socks backlash might not have been so pronounced had more people limited them to otherwise sober outfits. But when they went out, I can't say I was sad to see them go.

Now Im thinking - does a post count of over 10k automatically make you want to commit seppuku? Seems a few 5 figure members bit the dust this year. edit - its actually very "Heathers".

Nonsense. I have not yet begun to defile myself.

It would appear that the strain was more than they could bear. But me, I'm in my prime.

+1 on soporific tie backlash in 2011. I also predict a raw silk trend at some point this year. Yfyf and Foo will be the harbingers.
