The barbequeue place is "Montgomery Inn" or "The Boathouse" (two outposts of the same proprietor). It was a favorite of Bob Hope's. It's good.. not great.

I get it every once in a while at Hard Times in Alexandria, VA, but have no idea of the authenticity their recipe. I prefer their Texas chili, no beans. If I get the cincinnati, I'm probably having it with hot dogs. The local Hard Times is doing a new menu item - chili over tater tots. Basically, chili fries, but I like the tater tots approach.

I dislike most ribs because they are too fatty, they were heaven there. Amazing.

I wish I hadn't just become aware of Cincinnati chili. Even worse that a Greek immigrant invented it.

My co-worker from Ohio swears by Skyline, and tried the Hard Times Cinci chili, only to tell me it's trash compared to Skyline. I'll be going out to an OSU game, so I will have to try his precious Skyline.

Yes, Montgomery Inn is the place I've heard about.

It has to be a lot better then Skyline... :barf:

I'm Greek and grew up on the West Side of Cincy which is considered the wrong side of the tracks. I knew the Lambrinedes family which actually founded/owned Skyline.

I live in Chicago now and Skyline is the ONLY thing I miss about Cincinnati. Most folks don't 'get it' unless you grew up with it. I'm a bit of a foodie but this is one embarrassing habit that I have not been able to shake. I will eat 3-ways and cheese coneys loaded with lots of hot sauce until I'm ready to puke. You mentioned the cinnamon but they also put chocolate in it. You can hardly call it chili.

Why the fuck did you start this thread? Now I'm jonesin' for Skilini's

I adore it. Truly one of my favorite "guilty pleasures". In the northeast, where I grew up, a lot of hot dog stands run by Greeks have a similar sauce that they use on hot dogs. The finest example is probably Nick Tahou's in Rochester, New York, my home town. Recipes for their hot dog "chili" can be found all over the Internet these days, and are pretty close to the mark.

Yeah.. it's not so different from Coney Sauce at a Detroit Coney Island.

Delicious...wish Skyline did "coney crates" like Gold Star, best thing ever
