Playlist

So this is sort of a derivative thread. Here's the start of a playlist. It's the type of music I like at 2 am on a Saturday night, after a night of partying and time to wind down. Add your songs to the playlist, songs that would fit in with this list: Glory Box by Portishead Angel by Massive Attack Sparks by Royksopp Safe from Harm by Massive Attack Porcelain by Moby The Sea by Morcheeba Out of Town by Zero 7 In the Waiting Line by Zero 7 Sayam Sivam Sundaram by Thievery Corporation Group Four by Massive Attack Everyday by Yo La Tengo

...
Glory Box by Portishead
I think this was pretty much /thread right there, if that's your theme. That track is absolutely perfect for that setting. That whole album also works for driving around in a convertible with the top down on a summer evening.

I really don't do playlists that much, I mostly listen to whole albums... actually I don't own an MP3 player right now. I'll mull it over a bit.

I was sort of anti-play list for a very long time. I mean years. Anti-iPod, etc. Then one late night, at a friend's mountain view poolside, he plugged in an iPod loaded with Ultima Thule podcasts, to his sound system. That sold me right there. Took her a few more years, until her Toshiba Giga-Beat gave up the ghost.

I'm far too square to fit any of my choices into this list.

No more suggestions? I'd figure this would be just the crew for it. Here's a couple more:

She's So by Royksopp
Carnival is Over by Dead Can Dance
Underground by Sneaker Pimps

I like this theme.

Sometimes I like to throw on an ambient record, something by Tim Hecker or Mountains. DJ Shadow always seems to work for this sort of thing; I always consider Endtroducing to be perfect "drive-home" music.

Maybe some dubstep shit like Burial or DJ /Rupture.

It just misses fitting into this playlist, but I've really been liking the only disc put out by Eastern Dub Tactik, Blood is Shining.

Yeah, DJ Shadow definitely has some tracks to fit.

Sadly, I don't think you're trolling.

Saracen by Jeff Stott, the Kemanche mix.

No Boards of Canada? I just finished up with M83. They're sort of a mash between Massive Attack and Apex Twin. Some of their songs might fit.

Group Four by Massive Attack
Everyday by Yo La Tengo

This music is too hip for me and I'm half your age.

Boards can be hard to fit into a playlist, as so many songs tend to be quite short, and some are kinda annoying. They use this "demon child" (my name for it) voice in several songs, that while fine when partying, when chill time hits, can really grate.

Yeah, have a few from Dead Cities in my personal playlist.

Good Idea. I hope there will be some spin off effect here.. Systematic Decline by Scuba No More Mosquitoes by Four Tet My Rocky Mountain (also album title) by Erik Sumo - a great album btw. Sirens of the Dead Sea by Erik Sumo Melur by Steintryggur Rolf Royce by Tosca Roads Must Roll by Boom Bip Forskjellige Gode Ting by Kim Hiorthøy - this track, from the album "HEI", is one of my all time favorites Worry Wort by Radiohead (Amnesiac B-side) Cymbal Rush - by Thom Yorke 2112 Crescent Heights by Yasume passing by, by Ulrich Schnauss je t'aime...moi non plus by Serge Gainsbourg - Just for the.... fuck of it. Each track would fit perfectly in your playlist I think (I was about to put Zero 7 and Thievery Corporation in as well, but changed my mind as you already got them listed). Some tracks might be a bit - not much, up-tempo but mostly it is just cozy chill out if not ambient music.... And everything listed is great off course.
