Poul Kjaerholm PK22

One of my favourite looking lounge chair as well. But :
Not very comfortable, very nice and clean design, atrociously expensive.

Looks nice. But I wouldn't want to sit on it.

They aren't uncomfortable but they do score higher on the appearance scale than on the comfy scale.

Best in cane. One of the all time greats. For a similar look, but more comfort and a more comtemporary design, Jasper Morrison's Low Pad is great. I like both equally, but the scale of the low pad is better in conjunction with most other furniture.

But foo told me furniture is not supposed to be comfortable.

Ah, OK, good. I would not want to be confused with some kind of slovenly overpampered American.

Also one of my favorite designs, although I'm usually drawn to later-period chairs.

I've said to my wife before that if we were ever to go in a completely different direction in our interiors (currently focused on 60s/70s Italian design), I would be thrilled to incorporate some Kjaerholm pieces.

This has been my suspicion from the start.

I actually find the PK22 rather comfortable. Older models also seems to become a bit softer as the leather breaks in. I would never go for one with cane, as you have to maintain it more often to keep the single-straws from breaking. Keep in mind that the PK22 chair is very low (could this be a reason to why some finds it uncomfortable?) - so the sharp look demands a low coffee-table as well. The Pk61 pictured with the chairs is only 32 cm high.

parents had a couple of pk22s in leather when i grew up, think it's pretty uncomfortable plus it's abit boring "look at my extremely tasteful minimalist clean fritz hansen upper middle class easthetics" much prefer the pk31 one seater config for comfort plus it has alot more character imo.
plus it's abit to common, this is from a scandinavian perspective mind, might be more exotic in the us..

Yerh, in Scandinavia the PK22 is now a pretty common thing actually - nearly alongside Jacobsens famous dining chair, the superelipse table and the PH lamp. Its part of THE solution many upper middle class people chooses, your right on that one YO-han - hence a lot of other upper middle class people now seems to think is extremely tasteful to be somewhat opposed by it. Beside this, I have never really liked the legs on the pk31.

Why is it that all these 'modern' furnishings inspire this fairly depressing 1970's feeling in me? It feels like regression, rather than modernism. The most 'modern' furnishing I've ever seen along these lines was a Ghost chair in black. That was cool. ~ H
