Me too. Hoping I more than break even after selling the stock front end and rear wheel.

Some guy is going to do track days on it.

Spent a little time with the bike last night. Not as bad as I thought it might be.

Ordered $60 bucks worth of parts, and that should be enough to get it back to riding again.

The fuel leak is probably still going to be an issue (can't tell where in/around the petcock it is coming from, but I doubt it will fix itself), but I am no longer very concerned that the fuel may have leaked into bad places. Carbs may have started to gum up, but I'd rather see if it starts first before trying to pull and clean them (cleaning them isn't so bad, but the rubber mounts are getting old and they are pretty hard to remove).

edit: and that's what I get for being cheap the first time around. If I had just paid slightly more, I would have gotten throttle cables and a clutch lever that actually fit the bike....and I'd probably have been riding since May or so.

Pretty much. Cautionary tale for anyone now getting into riding.

They're actually good boots but I can't really see myself wearing them much so figured maybe someone could use them.

Also, got these on the way:

I am not someone to wear branded items but I'm looking at boots along this line when I finally get my ride:

I figure they produce them without the HD logo too.

Then Harley Davidson is probably not the bike for you. I'm pretty sure all Harley riders are required to wear nothing but branded gear. Legally required! Look it up.teacha.gif

Yeah, my instinctive distaste for the omnipresent Harley branding - and my overbroad stereotypes about the folks who happily wear it -- pretty much make Harley gear and bikes non-starters for me, without regard to substantive quality or suitability.
