Bingo. I'd love to start her on one of these, and I actually think she'd prefer it also, but I need something that'll start every time out.

Totally, yeah, I love that bike! However, again, with vintage bikes you either need to have mechanical aptitude or be willing to risk walking home a good amount of time, and since I'm not and she wouldn't be willing to take that risk, we've written off vintage bikes.. I am not trying to imply that vintage bikes are constantly failing, but again, I don't want to take a risk 2 or 3 hours into a mountain ride. Life's too short.. Great bike though!

The new SV650 is getting a lot of love.

Well deserved... for my money though the FZ-07 has more appeal

The new FZ-07 has better brakes than the new SV650 right?

I'm consistently disappointed at how bland suzuki chooses to make the sv650, it would look so much better with a few simple changes.

Has anyone else heard/read of a Polaris buyout of Harley? Seems unlikely.

There was some buzz about KKR potentially being interested recently, but not Polaris. Given HD's market cap is close to twice that of Polaris, it'd be hard to pull off. Interesting factoid when I went to Polaris' financials to see how large they were, noticed that about $5.0BB of their total $5.5BB in debt is current. Someone is guilty of poor liability management, but with interest rates at record lows, they'll probably be hailed as a genius, lol, assuming they can refinance it without issue..

Better brakes, more displacement, and crucially like 30-50lbs less weight.

SV650 needs a higher grade version... 100HP, fully adjustable suspension w/USD forks, brakes from this century, maybe an aluminum frame. If they could do that for STR money they would have something. I just can't stomach spending $7K on an SV that's no better than a 10 year old one I can get for $3-4K. That GSX-R suspension'd one near me is still for sale and dude is getting desperate frown.gif

That's interesting about their debt being all short term...now I'm wondering why that last 500k isn't there too.

I had read Polaris gave Victory a "get profitable or get shutdown" ultimatum a few years ago. While I was originally looking at Victory I have enough concern they won't be around in 10 years not to buy one. Not to mention the viability of their dealers whereas Harley has a huge network.
