Did you push it in any tight corners?  How high did you rev it because once you are over around 7k it turns really beastly. And yeah even with teh stock exhaust it sounds nice.

Naw, understandably the dealer guy was not pushing it and I had no idea where I was going (they didn't let me out by myself). I did get to rev it out on the highway... def had some nice top end pull but I was expecting some more arm stretching. It was nice overall though. Not even sure I would change the exhaust since I always ride with earplugs anyway.

New Speed Triple is niiiccceeee.

Boosted power, slicker design, and they added traction control and ABS.

Philosophically, I think T.C. goes against what the S3 was always about. But shit. I want one.

I'm sold.

Rumor mill's been saying they're going to get an 800 soon. What do you think?

People have been saying that forever though.

Not a chance. Triumph does things the Triumph way. And they'd probably say that their 675 makes 800s redundant.

MV Agusta bumped their F3 & Brutale 675s to 800s and it worked.  Besides it will make the Stripple an 821 Monster killer

sidenote: just scheduled a test ride for a Speed Triple R.  Going to try to get lucky tomorrow with that Aprilia dealer in Clarendon.  Don't get me wrong I'm still lusting over the Streetfighter S but the newest one is a 2012 model.

I couldn't imagine looking at a Monster compared to the Triple.  The Triple R costs less than the Monster 1200.

Monster 1200r vs Spiple R

Monster 821 vs not yet announced/released Striple 800.  Then again it is only a matter of time before teh 821 inherits the newer 939 motor

Triumph has a good shot of reintroducing themselves to America.  The brand has the pedigree, the latest models are very clean with plenty attention paid to details and they actually perform well in real world settings.

Triumph has gotta stay niche.... that's its whole appeal. Cliche as fuck but they are kind of the thinking man's bike brand.

I think for any bike brand to be successful now, you gotta have bikes in each segment.

You don't have to be mass market but you need those economies of scale.

So I went out for lunch and it was next door to a dealer whose stock consists  mostly of restored muscle cars.  But the Land Rover caught my eye so I walked in and looked around.  66 Stangs galore, Chevy Bel Airs, GTOs, Camaros, a sweet 69 t top Stingray.

And then I saw this

1979 RD400.  I have no clue what the market is for them but are asking $10k for it.  It was clean as heck

Wouldn't a stock bike go for more? That's a beaut but it's heavily modded.

I had an RD350 in high school. Incredible acceleration especially considering it was only 350cc's. I could out run much bigger bikes with ease.

The key to a "car" beating a superbike? It's the downforce, silly!
