Looks great. Personally, I'm not confident enough in my abilities yet to even go around town, let alone cross-country in a Ducati.

I posted it on the Sport Classic board on Ducati.ms, but not on any of the big biking boards.

Why would they flame me? I'm wearing raw denim and Clark's Desert Boots in Beeswax.

Oh wait.

Still, it was a great trip and it was very nice to be able to do a lot of riding at my own pace, with no other cars around. Except for my first ride on the 10 in LA, that was a bit much, but I'm now perfectly comfortable on the bike in anything. I got a bunch of night riding, rain, cold, wind, heat, you name it. 5000 miles in 23 days was a good start to my riding career.

Ha, glad you got to put some miles on the bike. You should have swung by a track to do a couple hours of hotlapping to drag some knee too. Nothing better than digging out of Turn 7 at Homestead with palm trees and blue sky whizzing by at 130mph...

Exactly - if you ride the KTM, you know that you receive value. WP suspension, fairly light and lots of power and precise handling...

The different design is exactly what sets them (visually) apart from the other manufacturers - and thats good too.

Won't match the photos Kookz posted of a pretty amazing trip, but snapped these over the last week, including some better,non-crappy cellphone pictures of my Triumph T100.

Oh man, that is a really tough question. The Harley Davidson obviously sounds great, but the Triumph just handles really, really well. In all honesty, if I could only keep one, I hate to say it but it would be the Harley Davidson. It is just a really cool bike, and fits me very well. Of course, I hope I never have to choose just one, since they both have their own pluses and minuses. They both seem to get a lot of questions. The Triumph, given its classic look, usually gets the "what year.." type, whereas the HD usually gets the "wow, I didn't realize Harley Davidson made something other than the chromed out Hogs..."

Funny. This is the first thing that went through my mind when I saw it. Is it some sort of special edition?

I don't think they do. This must be an accident.

I am thinking about some V&H Shortshots, but am torn. The chrome adds a little bit of visual interest. We'll see..

Not on a stock Sport 1000... wait until the upgrades have been done. The stock forks are scary. Cool trip pix BTW. I just got back from doing 1500 miles or so down 101 to Eureka or so with 3 friends this last week. Took the F650GS and it performed mostly great, though it does not enjoy 50mph gusts when going 85 in curves. Not the best highway machine, especially all loaded up with camping gear. Even so it was very tolerable and though tired, I'm not brutalized by the miles and camping sleep. Will post a pic or two when I have a chance. Now to get through 100000 unread emails.

On my hour-long commute to work today, I noticed two motorcyclists riding very dangerously --- veering, quick lane changes in my blind spot, etc. I would not have been as careful driving my car around them if I didn't take the MSF course and became slightly more aware of motorcycles on the road.

Also, more dangerous are the guys on scooters around town who ride like the wind and are without gear.
