I have not been selling on ebay, and after reading this, I don't know if I'm ever going to.
Like FStyle said, this makes me more appreciative of this space here.

Hats off to all of you gentlemen!

Thanks for the helpful info guys. I'm glad to hear the ebay/paypal aggregate hasn't quite achieved imperial domination over us mere mortals yet.

They can only remove funds or freeze your paypal account.

If the money is in your paypal account, they can take it. If you have a negative balance, you can't use your PP account w/o clearing the balance. You can't associate a bank account w/ multiple PP accounts.

Believe me, I ran a negative balance for a few months while disputing w/ paypal. I made a second PP account w/ a previous bank account that i stopped using. Still, it was extremely inconvenient. I ended up winning, but I was crippled in using eBay for 3 months.

what we are saying is that Paypal cannot tap into your bank account to retrieve minus funds.

yes, paypal can take any balance in your immediate paypal account and even make it negative, but that is the extent of their power if you dont do anything about it in regards to your bank account.

Correct. They cannot take the money.

However, you can never use that bank account w/ paypal again. Even if you create a new PP account. I got into a huge fight w/ PP over this part. I told them that I did not want them to have my financial info. I wanted to remove it from their system completely. I didn't do the research, but I figured that there was some kind of law allowing me to remove my financial info. Went through 3-4 levels of idiots and still could not get them to disassociate my bank account w/ their system.

All you have to do is bring them to small claims court. They almost always bow out! They have to hire lawyers in your area to represent them!
