summer canvas sneakers

are white (or light colored) canvas sneakers pretty much the norm for summer sneaker wear? it seems like some plainold purcells would be best... yet I have managed to never pick up a pair of canvas sneakers for some reason. I want to grab some (not to pricey since they'll be worn barefoot and no doubt need to be tossed after the summer). Maybe Jack Purcell or Tretorn or Spring Court.

I was thinking these:

I have both, but I wouldn't buy the JPs off the jcrew site: I don't like the distressing, and they've upped the price a bit. See if you can find them in a shop near you. The 8 air holes on the Spring Courts are nice in the summer weather, but some people don't like the look. I think it comes down to a matter of aesthetic preferences.

Why would you spend $90 on a pair of spring courts if you're going to throw them away? I love my Tretorn T-56's PF Flyers are a similar option, and much more comfortable. A lot of people seem to think they look goofy, but I think they look much better being worn than is expected.

Feiyue is a nice option for something a little different looking, but still clean and simple. Plus you can take advantage of our SF discount. Shameless promotion aside, Feiyue is an interesting line, with some pretty rich history. We only stock one model right now, but check out their website to see the whole line. The Er Dang Jia looks like it might fit your criteria.

I haven't tried the Spring Courts on, but the Purcells are great. Cheap and comfortable. I'd get the non-distressed version though.

I'll second the tretorns. I have some and like them just fine. Also, and I know I probably deserve some shit for this, but I like keds if you're interested in something with a lower profile. Quality's not so great, but they look very clean once you sand off that little keds logo.

Just picked up some Superga Cotu/Torino's in white. Breaking them in today.
So far, so good.

+1. I got a pair of Superga Torino's in Ecru (they didn't have white in my size) and these are great summer shoes. The Bologna's are pretty nice too.

I looked at the superga stuff. I also like tretorn.

Considering they are going to be tossed at the end of the Summer, don't waste your money - the Purcells will be fine. Are you dead-set on low-tops? Maybe something with a little more beef than chucks but a little less bloak than RickOwens - like this.

$90 for 4 months of constant sneaker wear isnt really all that much, and further I wouldnt spend $90, these can be had onsale with coupon codes at a number of stores for around $60-$65.

I have PF flyers (Albin and some other pair both leather), I also have several pairs of springcourts all leather.

yea kinda set on lows, i have 5 pairs of CP mids, 3 pairs of SC mids, 1 pair Clae mids, and 1 pair of PF Flyers mids....

I hear ya about the money, I dont want to spend over $70, I wouldnt toss em if I thought they wouldnt smell but usually if you rock some sneakers (canvas or not) for a whole summer without socks they are going to be deadly come Fall...

^ you could always just buy two pairs of white chucks for the same price as the Purcells. That way when the first pair gets funky mid-Summer you can switch to the fresh pair

I have a pair of Spring Court mids in light tan, and they are really comfortable. The insole in them is fantastic.
