question about cuttng sides of curly hair

I have problems with my curly hair...the sides are longer than the top and what is happening is that my hair looks like its poofing out at the sides making it looks ridiculous. i was wondering if the best way to go about this is clip the short hair on the sides so as to get rid of the foundation that is causing the hair to on top to lay on to go away and hoping that will get rid of it, or should i trim the longer hair on top so that its ends fall above where the curly hair on the sides start?

Just go for the "John Oates" look... As in Hall and Oates. You'll get lots of pussy (or dick).
