True Blood - Page 52

No seriously Rambo, while that last bit was not that big a deal people need to just stop with mentioning things from the books. Anything at all.

Then a couple hours later they'll be having hot donkey sex on the couch or something and all will be forgiven.

Alright, but when someone asks a question that directly relates to the books, what should people do? Just be a dick and not answer? I try not to reveal anything that directly relates to the ongoing story and still help people out with information. That panther thing that AB is bitching about was out there for months, months, before anyone here even mentioned it.

Last episode was pretty lame. The werepanther thing was a stupid plot twist. And having russel carrying around a jar full of his twink's blood and crying like a bitch was annoying too. And the extended soap between bill and sookie is getting really really old. With Jessica being back with her annoying BF my one hope of seeing some lesbian vamp sex has been destroyed. I'm starting to really not give a shit.

Either start a thread about the books, or just use common freaking sense. If it hasn't happened yet in the show's timeline, don't mention it (or give it spoiler space). Really, truly not that hard of a mental calculation to make. I'm not trying to be a "dick" about this. Pretty sure I asked politely the first few times it happened. But rather than apologize and desist, you kept getting argumentative and continuing to post shit from the books. I like you, dude. You contribute some fun stuff on DT. This is not personal. But you're in the wrong here. This really shouldn't even be a fight, but you keep getting defensive. Just have some common courtesy for the majority of posters on this thread who do not want book spoilers, large or small.

I'm not arguing with your or getting defensive. I just think you've got a bug up your ass about this and I can't seem to understand why. Its honestly perplexing to me that you are getting so worked up about this. The show comes from the books. If someone asks a question about how a plot device came about nobody should catch shit for answering their question. Should they? Also, I still don't understand how when the show and books diverge, wildly mostly, its a spoiler if its never ever going to happen in the show? I know that a few others enjoy the history/mythology/etc.. of the book info. Is it fair to deprive them? Further, I don't know why I'm getting the brunt of this as I'm certainly not the only person who's posted book info. Really, this is mostly confusing to me.

Dude, it's not about "getting a bug up my ass." It's about your lack of respect for those of us -- and I keep using words like "us" for a reason, because it's more than just me -- who would prefer not to hear about things that happen in the book which may or may not spoil things that will happen in the show.

Listen, I understand where you're coming from. Some of the shit you're mentioning from the books seems very minor to you, and/or may already have come to pass (or not come to pass) in the show. But for events that still might possibly come to pass in the books --such as Tara's ultimate fate, which was spoiled a page back -- please do not mention them here. Or, if you do, give it spoiler warnings and spoiler space.

The point is, let the recipients of the information have the choice to determine if they want to read it or not. You should not be making that choice for us by blurting out book info without due warning or space. This isn't about you and what you think is minor or major. This is about everyone else who hasn't read the books and is primarily on this thread to discuss the show.

I am genuinely sorry if my tone is comung off as harsh or dickish, but I just find it annoying that this is even a subject for debate.

I came to the series because I thought vampire were hot. I'm sticking around for the plot. But when the plot gets boring, I wants me some lesbian vamps.

I'm not mad at ya. Saying I lack respect is a bit over the top, even for you, but I can run with it. For the record, I didn't mention Tara's past, TheButler did:

I don't see you calling him out for that. All I did was just confirm what his wife was telling him. I may be wrong but I don't actually remember blurting out any secrets in this thread. Just answering people's already posed questions and commenting on what others have posted from around the web. I have no idea what is wrong with that. And, for the last time, discussing the show necessitates discussing the books. Because the show comes from the books. It seems fairly common sense to me. If you don't want to see people discussing things that have, might, or could happen you shouldn't be in the thread. I put in a request in the TransMod thread for a spoiler button. If this is really ruining your enjoyment of the show I suggest you go in there and ask them as well.

No it doesn't. A lot of people began watching this show without even knowing about the books. Given that the storyline has diverged so much from the books, how about we just consider them irrelevant now and stop talking about them?

As for discussing things that might or could happen, a lot of those discussions are based on what we've seen on the screen. No need to muddy up those discussions with 'well the book said this...'. You're killing the fun of the speculation.

I'm one of them. I only read the books this month. Its fully impossible to stop discussing the books because people are going to keep asking about them. Most of the what could or might happen is based on net rumors or people talking with others who've read the books. That's where the books have been coming up in context. People haven't been running in and going "ITS ALL A LIE. IN THE BOOKS SAM IS SHIFTS INTO A GIANT COCK, SPRAYS BONTEMPS WITH AN OCEAN OF SPLUGE, AND WASHES AWAY ALL THE WAREWOLVES!!!!!"
