He's my favorite historical figure. Southern gentleman who went to seed after contracting tuberculosis. He became one of the most feared gunmen in the Old West, though his reputation was largely of his own making. His most redeeming virtue was his devotion to his friend, Wyatt Earp. And even that ended badly.

My avatar is from "Tombstone," a terrific film with a great performance from Val Kilmer. It's also surprisingly historically accurate, up to a point. You should check it out.
