If you're the cultured gentleman you appear to be, I'd highly recommend you read "The Modern Drunkard" by Frank Kelly Rich. One of the chapters lists various answers to common questions. For example, "Why do you drink so much?" Answer 1: Jesus said his blood was wine and I'm trying to get closer to the Lord. Answer 2: Because Osama doesn't want me to. Answer 3: I'm trying to make up for your disgraceful lack of effort.

While not a heavy drinker it sounds like a title I should take on my upcoming travels abroad.

Mine's from a can of Japanese coffee:

I was wondering where that was from... Is it available in the US?

The name "Boss Coffee" itself should be a guarantee the drink doesn't suck.

We really should have Suntory as a corporate sponsor of this forum!

They've already unofficially "helped out" with some of my posts!

yes! I live in Northern Virginia and you can find it in Japanese grocery stores and Korean supermarkets... it tastes great!! Recently Starbucks came out with a canned coffee drink similar to the Japanese ones... but the Japanese ones are just better!

Out in Southern CA (and possibly other large metropolitan areas) there is a chain of primarily Chinese supermarkets called "Ranch 99" where I buy iced coffee in cans every once in a while and have been doing so since the early 90s. You could buy this variety in bulk for cheap, but I remember a few Thai and Vietnamese brands being good as well: I'll have to swing by Little Tokyo and try the Suntory variety next time.

IMHO, the Japanese versions of canned coffees are vastly superior in taste and quality to the Taiwanese, Chinese, American, etc. versions... the Japanese coffees are more than twice as expensive, but definitely worth it!!

Oh, well. I just noticed your page 12 request today. My days simply don't have sufficient hours to peruse each thread of every forum. So, slightly more than five months after you requested an interpretive translation of your avatar, here’s a response for you! An Imperialist like myself doesn't have the extra time that the Proletariat enjoys for activities such as regular Style Forum participation.

Your avatar-specific poster panel is Russian in origin and likely dates from the period between 1917 and 1930. The snake is clearly labeled as Imperialism. The text and image are an exhortation to kill imperialism because it is antithetical to communism. The Russian worker-communists (the Proletariat) are fighting the Snake of Imperialism and the text reads: "The snake won't stop until everything is ablaze/destroyed; let's bayonet the scoundrel."

The Snake of Imperialism is defending its master, the Imperialist Captains of commerce and industry that own said commerce and industry (as symbolized by the smoke-belching factory guarded by the snake). As you probably know, philosophical communism essentially eliminates such ownership and supposedly creates equality. Historically, practical communism in Russia creates other verifiable results.

Great post. I found (and hopefully will find again) a website filled with photos of old communist propaganda posters and their beautiful artwork. There's one or two that I've oftened wondered about and would love your help.
