Reading A Shackled Continent. It's about how Africa became so impoverished. I like that it doesn't primarily blame colonialism like other sources. Some good info in here and it has a positive outlook for the continent' future.

Wonderful book, in my opinion his best. I have read almost all of the translated Murakami novels and short story collections, he never disappoints!

Just got the latest, almost 1,000 pages of 1Q84. Plan to read it after New Year. Reading a few shorter books until then.

THe firs I read of him was Norwegian Wood, which I loved so much and  had a deep impact on me at the time. Then came East of the border, west of the sun, same deal as the first. These first two I read them in spanish. The wind up bird chronicle copy I got on my last holiday is in English. I´ll probably try to get 1Q84 in english as well, it helps me improve my vocabulary quite a lot.

One day I´ll be lucky enough to know japanese and read murakami as it was meant to be read inlove.gif

I'm always up for some good young adult reading, and I've heard Percy Jackson is decent, though the movie sucked. How is it?

I just finished "The Tigers Wife" by Tea Obreht. Well done first novel, with a nice mix of the fantastic and the serious. She's going to be an amazing writer one day.
