He's not a very sellabrated author. Have you read The Good Soldier? It's the only Ford Madox Ford novel I've read, and it was pretty conventional except for the structure which seemed to offer little benefit to the story itself.
The Parade's End novels are wonderful, and show a more adeventurous style than The Good Soldier. I think that Ford is terribly under-rated, and I much prefer him to some of the more celebrated English modernists (Joyce, for instance).
