Hrm, I haven't been too athletic for a while but for the past 2 years or so I've been jogging almost 2 miles nightly. Maybe its more of a problem of me buying jeans that are a bit too big in the waist.

Well, jogging isn't exactly the sort of activity that lends itself to ass-development. (Dude, I just typed "ass-development". Awesome.)

Interval training would probably help, but basically you need to do weight training. Preferably both. There's basically no substitute for squats (unless you have back problems or are really worried about form, in which case you can do leg presses).

Romanian deadlift is a bit better for the glutes. Most people don't/won't squat deep enough to activate them.

Aren't deadlifts more dangerous than squats if you have bad posture?

Best thing is cycling. Far less dangerous for the back than any squat, deadlift and whatnot. !luc

Yep, also rowing. Interval work (running doesn't hurt, or rather, it does), wither. I did 8000 m on Saturday (on the erg, still too cold to go on the water,) 7000 m and then 5 x 200 m sprints, and 6x400m sprints (running) on Sunday. My gluts still hurt.

yes, rowing is an all-around exercise which will develop a lot of body muscles.

Yes. But learning proper posture for any lifting (and, really, any exercise) is necessary. All those muscles aren't much fun if you've seriously hurt yourself along the way.

Depends, but that's why I recommended Romanian deadlift, which is basically just the top half of a deadlift.

I have a similar problem. I definitely have an ass, but my jeans don't do it justice. The problem is ****** is much shorter then it is wide, so most of the jeans I have that fit well in the waist have pockets that fall much lower on my rear end and make ****** disappear.
