So you're saying some peoples are good at running, some are 'irony' experts and others are born to lead?

In the latest pick stitching thread 'irony' was 'used' in this post. Normally such a post would make a 1/5 star in the 'irony' department but if one reads on in the thread, one finds the irony was too subtle for some. Then it came to me. Of course I got it. I'm an expert for gods sake. An 'irony' expert. Up till now I've graded 'irony' for its cleverness, its witticism, its 'out-of-the-orderliness'. Doing that, I was looking down from my own expert based mountain top. And believe you, me, from up there, everything looks small! No longer. From now on I'll aspire to grade it on its perceived merites alongside its subjective merites. I'll rate the referenced post 2/5 stars.

I will give this post 5/5. In the second quote, the poster feels he will use "the article" itself, to disprove the conclusions stated by the person he is quoting, who presumably used the article to make the original conclusions. The irony occurs in that the attempted use of "the article" to dispute the person being quoted, doesn't exist! While this was unintentional, on the part of the poster, it in no way mitigates the almost breathe taking irony.

If I didn't know you were 'being' 'ironic' I would say: FAIL (no 'irony'). If you weren't I guess you didn't read the experts post, in which I explained 'irony' is all about intent. For arguments sake. If my intent was the 'use' of 'irony', I didn't nearly deserve 5 stars. I rate myself 2/5 stars. Your post here isn't nearly succint enough. For others than myself to understand it (the insult) and also get that you try to get me to respond to a subject gone from this forum except via pm, it takes too much of a read. I rate it 1/5 stars, barely.

Thoughts?

3/5.

Are you being ironic? (1/5) Else I don't see what you're getting at.
