What are your thoughts on these, lads? Any caveats?

I used to get them on all of my sportcoats. Now I basically get them on everything other than my most formal suits. I think that they are a very nice detail.

Personally I can't stand them on anything but the most casual of sports coats. They just look "sloppy" to me - not very sartorially sophisticated of me, I know, but there it is!

Got them on my boat club blazer. Absolutely my favourite coat.

Aesthetically, I like them and I like a patch pocket with a flap as well ,especially for tweed. All my fathers tweed jackets were patch with flap. Linen jackets scream for patch pockets sans flap.

I like them. They're definitely for more casual jackets though.

I like them a lot. They're the only kind of pocket that looks good when bulging with stuff, or sagging.

Big fan of patch on the hip pockets, not so much on breast.

I like them. Not a big deal to me though.

Great on less formal jackets - ie linen or other rougher cloth

I like them. I have them on odd jackets and a couple of suits.

I like them. They are a little more sporty.

I especially like the ones on my older Luciano Barbera jackets where they do a double patch pocket. That way you can actually put something in the inner one, like business cards or even a Blackberry without it making the outer patch pocket bulge as much.

I like them, but not in a suit i.e. with matching trousers.
