I didn't like Children of Men at first but it grew on me. 1984 and Fahrenheit 451 are classics. What else?

Any Michael Moore movie. I know it's not real, but man, if reality was really like it is in his movies? That would be messed up.

Clockwork Orange deserves mention.

Some obvious ones... Blade Runner Brazil Escape from New York Mad Max 2 Dark City is worth a watch too.

- Akira
- 28 Days Later
- Wall-E

There was a thread on The Road a few weeks ago. It looks promising.

Philip K. Dick affiliated stuff tends to be greaat. Blade Runner is quite possibly the best dystopian movie, but A Scanner Darkly is pretty damn great too. Minority Report is underrated but not on the level of the previous two. Paycheck is a travesty and an insult to the author (especially because the novella is so good)

You just reminded me of Total Recall. Not sure if that counts though. Regardless, enjoyable movie.

Some classics:

Soyent Green (it's PEOPLE!!)

The Island

The Beach

Michael Bogdanov's 1998 production of Macbeth is set in a post-apocalyptic world and it's surprisingly awesome.

Minority Report is one of my favorite movies of all time, but I don't think it quite counts as dystopian.

When I saw it the first time, I remember thinking that those commercials consisting of a montage of different people saying the same thing wouldn't survive another year, nevermind to the 2070s. Eight years on, that style of advertising shows no signs of letting up.

I think you guys covered all the movies, if not franchises -- unless T2 counts.

Westworld and Omega Man
