how long do you take to get ready for coming out?

When I was a lad, coming out was done late (if at all) and much confusion ensued. Gay kids were thought straight, and straight kids were thought gay; and no argument could persuade anybody of the wrongness of his thinking. I have read on the internets that coming out is done earlier today--often before breakfast. Do you endorse this practice, or is it wiser to delay such pronouncements until after a fortifying repast of kippers and blood sausage?
